New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal finally broke silence on the Office of Profit case and said that history is witness to the fact that “truth prevails”

In a tweet, Kejriwal said, “When you go on truth and honesty, there are a lot of obstacles. It is bound to happen. But the entire visual and invisible powers of the universe help you. God gives you. Because you work for yourself, not for the country and the society. History witnesses that victory is finally a reality.”

Earlier, Anna Hazare had told news agency ANI, “We parted our ways the day. Arvind Kejriwal formed Aam Aadmi Party. We are not in contact anymore. I had told him not to form a party. The nation can’t be served by forming a party, had that been the case, the scenario would have been different in 70 years of independence.”

On Friday, the Election Commission recommended that 20 AAP MLAs be suspended. While President Ram Nath Kovind is supposed to take a call on the EC recommendation, the Delhi High Court will be hearing the case on Monday.

The matter pertains to the appointment of 21 MLAs as Parliamentary secretaries by Arvind Kejriwal government on March 13, 2015.

The decision was challenged by Advocate Prashant Patel who petitioned President Pranab Mukherjee seeking disqualification of the MLAs on grounds that they were now holding the office of profit.

Following this, the Delhi Legislative Assembly then passed the Delhi Member of Legislative Assembly (Removal of Disqualification) ( Amendment Bill ), 2015 excluding these MLAs from the office of profit.

The President, however, referred the matter to the Election Commission.
